TORONTO -- Avril Lavigne strolled the MuchMusic Video Awards red carpet with fiance Chad Kroeger, but after the awards wasn't in the mood to dish out details of their upcoming wedding.

"It's very exciting -- I'm really excited about it, (but) I can't really say too much," she said with a smile in front of a cluster of reporters assembled backstage. "I'm trying to say as much as I can without saying too much."

Indeed, it's a busy time for the 28-year-old punk-pop princess, who is preparing to release a new album in September while planning her summer nuptials with the Nickelback frontman.

On Sunday, she performed her new single "Here's to Never Growing Up" -- which has reached No. 17 on the Canadian pop charts -- and collected yet another MMVA, this time for best international video by a Canadian.

She's really grown up on this show, from the 17-year-old trilling "Sk8r Boi" in a tank top and tie to the current-day Lavigne, who still favours black and dark eye makeup.

"It hasn't changed very much," she said backstage when asked about her evolving personal style. "I'm still rocking the black eyeliner."

And it's not lost on her that her that she's celebrated some memorable moments of her career at this annual outdoor award bash, including the one time she scrawled "MMVA" across her backside.

"It's always so exciting to be here at the MMVAs because I remember coming home from school every night and putting MuchMusic on, watching music videos, and seeing the MMVAs and wanting to be up there," she said. "When I performed here when I was 17 -- besides the fact that my ass-crack was showing -- it was very surreal, and to be here today again like 11 years later, performing and I also received an award tonight, I'm very grateful and I'm very thankful."
