    • Nunavut expands COVID-19 vaccine to all children aged six months to four years

    The Nunavut government says it is expanding eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines to all children aged six months to four years.

    Health Canada authorized the use of Moderna's Spikevax vaccine for babies and young children in July.

    Shortly after, Nunavut began offering the vaccine to all four-year-olds and those between six months and four years who were immunocompromised.

    The territory says it was allotted 1,100 doses in an initial shipment.

    There are approximately 6,000 children under five in Nunavut.

    Nunavut also says it is now offering booster shots to all children aged five to 11 years who received a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least six months ago.

    The Northwest Territories and Yukon began offering vaccines to all children under the age of five in July.

    Alberta was the last province to announce it would open vaccine eligibility to that age group on August 2.
