Nissan Canada has informed its customers who have financed a vehicle through and that some of their personal information may have been compromised during a possible data breach.

The company said they became aware of “unauthorized access to personal information” on Dec. 11 on Thursday. The only customers who may have been affected are those who financed a vehicle in Canada, Nissan Canada said.

Information about customers’ names, addresses, vehicle makes and models, vehicle identification numbers, credit scores, loan amounts and monthly payments may have been impacted, .

Nissan Canada said they have no indication that payment card information was affected.

Although it’s still unknown how many of Nissan Canada’s approximately 1.13 million financing customers were impacted, the company said they’re contacting all of them “out of an abundance of caution.” Those customers will be eligible to receive 12 months of credit monitoring services through TransUnion free of charge, the company said.

Nissan Canada said they have contacted Canadian privacy regulators, law enforcement, and data security experts to help with the investigation.
