Paris Fashion Week is underway and Celine Dion has been basking in the limelight with her bold, colourful and unconventional outfits.
Harper鈥檚 Bazaar 鈥渓egendary;鈥 USA Today as 鈥渨acky couture;鈥 and CNN鈥檚 as the 鈥渜ueen of couture week.鈥
One of those ensembles even nearly caused a wardrobe malfunction and a nasty fall.
As Dion hastily tried make her way through a crowd, the 51-year-old musical legend stumbled while wearing a on Monday.
The outfit was arguably one of the most jaw-dropping ones during the past several days. But since last week, the Grammy-award-winning singer has been turning heads and fashion reporter Jeanne Beker said that鈥檚 just the way Dion likes it.
鈥淚t鈥檚 certainly been entertaining. She knows how to get the paparazzi鈥檚 attention and get tongues wagging,鈥 she told CTVNews.ca in a telephone interview. 鈥淪he鈥檚 giving us something to talk about 鈥 so that鈥檚 fun.鈥
Last Thursday, the 鈥淎shes鈥 singer dressed up in a with a silver belt emblazoned with the brand鈥檚 name.
The day after that, she was decked out in a pink Miu Miu midi dress with a large black bow at her hip.
That Friday she also rolled up one of her pant legs and left the other unfurled. Dion with a light-pink ostrich feather Attico top and pink furry sandals.
鈥淚t was a nod to the asymmetrical trends,鈥 Beker said. But she stressed that 鈥淐eline is an absolute original.鈥
During the weekend, Dion threw caution to the wind in an off-white, .
鈥淪he鈥檚 always taken herself lightly, which I think is a really great thing,鈥 Beker said, adding Dion 鈥渓oves fashion but has never taken (it) too seriously.鈥
'A brilliant grasp of theatrics'
On Sunday, Dion combined a business-themed blazer with a by Ronald van der Kemp. 鈥淲hether or not you approve of her outfits 鈥 it鈥檚 part of her mission, I think, as an entertainer to give people a bit of a laugh,鈥 Beker said.
鈥淪he does have a brilliant grasp of theatrics, beyond her raw talent as this amazing singer, she is a performer of the highest order.鈥
Later that night, Dion made a splash in a complete with elbow-length black gloves.
Two days later, she wore a flowing dress with . That same Tuesday, she also wore a , accompanied by two brown Weimaraner dogs each wearing jewelled collars.
Because of Dion鈥檚 taste for theatrics, unconventional fashion choices and confidence, Beker called her 鈥淐anada鈥檚 answer to Lady Gaga.鈥
But she stressed that Dion could play it safer with her fashion choices if she really wanted to.
鈥淪he really does have the talent to back it up,鈥滲eker said. But she said Dion was so 鈥渂rilliantly talented, she can get away with murder in the fashion department.鈥
鈥淭he Power of Love鈥 singer will kick off her "in North America later this year, which so far includes Toronto, Quebec City, Miami and Brooklyn.
In late May, the songstress made her 鈥淐arpool Karaoke鈥 debut on 鈥淭he Late Late Show with James Corden鈥 singing 鈥淢y Heart Will Go On鈥 with the talk-show host.
