Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was honoured with a state dinner Thursday night at the White House, where President Barack Obama made a toast to “the friendship between Americans and Canadians.â€

It was the first U.S. state dinner for a Canadian prime minister since 1997.

High-profile names on the guest list included Margaret Trudeau, the prime minister’s mother, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau’s parents, Jean Gregoire and Estelle Blais, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

Several Canadian celebrities, including actors Michael J. Fox and Mike Myers, were also in attendance. Ryan Reynolds was there with his wife, actress Blake Lively. Sandra Oh of Grey’s Anatomy fame is also on the guest list, as well as Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of Saturday Night Live.
