Prime minister-designate Justin Trudeau has responded to an open letter from a British Columbia woman that went viral on Facebook earlier this week.

In the letter posted on her Facebook page, Casandra Fletcher introduces herself as 鈥渁n average West Coast, middle class mom voter鈥 who voted strategically for the Liberal Party on Monday.

She wrote that she cast her ballot with 鈥渁 pit in my stomach鈥 and felt like she was 鈥済ambling my life away.鈥

Fletcher made a 鈥渢op ten鈥 list for Trudeau, saying she hopes he can 鈥渄o a few things鈥 as prime minister after she and 鈥渕illions of other Canadians鈥 cast their ballot 鈥渁gainst the alternative鈥 and 鈥渙ut of pure rage and fear.鈥

Her list included requests that Trudeau change Canada鈥檚 electoral system, rebuild Canada鈥檚 name on the world stage, protect the country鈥檚 natural resources, and support science.

Since it appeared on Facebook Tuesday, Fletcher鈥檚 letter was shared more than 35,800 times and got more than 41,000 likes.

On his own Facebook page Friday,

鈥淐asandra, I've read your letter with great interest and admiration,鈥 he wrote. 鈥淵our honesty and frank words have resonated across the country, and I take them to heart.鈥

Trudeau thanked Fletcher for her vote, 鈥渘o matter the reason why you marked your ballot as you did,鈥 and said he鈥檚 focused on building a Liberal cabinet that will be unveiled on Nov. 4. He also encouraged Effe to send him 鈥渁nother Top 10 sometime down the road.鈥
