TORONTO -- One of Canada鈥檚 most well-known musical exports has stirred up a heated debate involving Tim Hortons.

Justin Bieber took to Instagram Friday to express his 鈥渙utrage鈥� over the coffee chain鈥檚 redesigned lids, even going so far as to post a poll asking his fellow Canadians to weigh in on the issue.
鈥淭hese new lids are uncomfortable on the mouth and you get very little liquid each drink,鈥�
鈥淚t's a damn outrage and needs to be changed back.鈥�
Tim Hortons introduced the new lids earlier this year to replace the notoriously leaky brown tabbed lids the company used for nearly 20 years.
At the time, Tim Hortons president Alex Macedo told The Canadian Press, "The only people who are going to be pissed off are dry cleaners and car-washing companies,鈥� in a nod to the many drive-thru patrons who had complained about the old lids.
Macedo said the new lids, emblazoned with a patriotic maple leaf, were 鈥渞igorously tested鈥� by thousands of people to ensure they would leak less.
But, according to Bieber鈥檚 post, 70 per cent of his followers agreed that the old Tim Hortons lids were superior to the new lids.
鈥淛ustin Bieber for prime minister,鈥� wrote one commenter.
鈥淎nd with that, Bieber started a protest,鈥� mused another.
Bieber also expressed concerns that the lids weren鈥檛 environmentally friendly noting, 鈥渋t shouldn't be plastic find a way to be recyclable let's change the world [one] lid at a time.鈥�
Hours later, Bieber posted another Instagram dedicated to Tim Hortons, this time showcasing their swift response to his outrage.
鈥淗i @justinbieber, thanks for your feedback. Sorry you aren鈥檛 loving our new lids, but the good news is that they鈥檙e made with 100% recyclable plastic,鈥�
鈥淲e鈥檇 love to have you join our team that鈥檚 working to make them even better.鈥�
